Lindungi aset dan data peribadi kita "People need to know this business is lucrative, and the fraudsters are vehement. New scams are being cooked up every day to dupe people into giving over their money or their personal details. Just because people aren't fooled by the current scams, doesn't mean they are totally immune," he says. He says internet users need to keep up-to-date with all scams being perpetrated in the community, and this can start with subscribing to the Government's Stay Smart Online, and Scam Watch websites, which alerts people to new scams and viruses as they arise. "Unfortunately this is a war we are all waging against unknown criminals from an unknown location, that can be whoever they want to be in order to steal people's money or their good name. Fighting it starts with risk awareness and being extremely protective over who gets our personal information," he says. Personally, I have received several calls this month from people claiming to be Chase Bank's fraud department. They profess to be notifying me of suspicious activity on my Chase Credit Card.
I told one caller I wasn't a Chase cardholder. He apologized for the misunderstanding and began asking me for personal information so he could "get to the bottom" of why I was being incorrectly called. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he hung up. These callers, of course, were not actually from Chase Bank. They were hoping to glean sensitive information from me, such as my credit card number, my address, my mother's maiden name or my Social Security number. This "mass contact" technique is referred to as "phishing." Criminals send mass emails and/or pop-up messages on computers, or engage in mass text messages and even actual telephone calls, like the ones I received. Computer-generated calling equipment (robo-calls) dramatically increase their access to consumers. Then they impersonate legitimate companies, such as banks and other financial institutions, to deceive consumers into revealing their credit card numbers, passwords, and other personal information. One current scam involves an interactive recording. The caller hears, "Your MasterCard account has been locked for security purposes" then instructions to "unlock" the account. People who have MasterCard accounts, of course, might follow the assigned steps, which include entering credit card information "to reactivate the card." Similar swindles involve text messages to mobile devices that inform consumers their debit cards have been deactivated. The text includes instructions to call an 877 number to contact "security services to reactivate." Slick crooks answer the 877 number and ask callers to verify their security codes and PIN information.

Sila baca keratan di bawah: Scammers are taking advantage of internet users' trust in search engine results with a techinque called search engine poisoning - a method that earlier this year netted a Latvian gang more than $72 million. SpyEye Trojan hijacks mobile SMS security for online fraud A stealth new attack carried out by the SpyEye Trojan circumvents mobile SMS security measures implemented by many banks. Using captured code, Trusteer discovered a two-step web-based attack that allows fraudsters to change the mobile phone number in a victim’s online banking account and reroute SMS confirmation codes used to verify online transactions. This attack, when successful, enables the thieves to make transactions on the user’s account and confirm the transactions without the user’s knowledge.

“A couple of weeks ago, I received a call from someone who asked if one of our model homes in the Foothills was for rent because she saw it on Craigslist,” said Elizabeth Carpenter, associate broker at Mesa Del Sol Realty. “I told her the house that was listed was one of our model homes and it was only for sale, not for rent. Someone was trying to get that person to send them money in Nigeria in exchange for a rental house that doesn't exist.” The fraudulent listing contained information about the home, photos, address and a brief explanation stating the owner unexpectedly had to travel to Nigeria for missionary work and wanted to rent the house for $700 with utilities included. “We had a few people who responded to the ad,” Carpenter said. “But fortunately for them, they contacted us first to verify if they were (legitimate) before sending any money.” Lantaklah.... Biar lambat asal selamat.

Pengguna Facebook perlulah berhati-hati semasa mengakses iklan. We encountered an infection chain wherein the user is led from a page within Facebook to a couple of ad sites then, finally, to a page that hosts exploits. When we traced the connection between the ad sites and Facebook, we found that the ad providers were affiliated with a certain Facebook application. We checked out the said application and found that it is indeed ad supported. We were able to come up with the likely infection chain based on this finding: Upon accessing the application, the malvertisement gets loaded, triggering a series of redirections. The redirections finally lead to a malicious site, which then loads several exploits, particularly those related to Java and ActiveX: CVE-2006-0003 CVE-2010-4452 CVE-2010-1423 Untuk laporan penuh sila ke TrendLabs 4 Oktober 2011 Facebook Malvertisement Leads to Exploits | Malware Blog | Trend Micro

Salam warga BJ
“rewards children with virtual cash” for talking to strangers on the web. Users of so-called “Social Games” such as Farmville, Mafia Wars and Pet Society are rewarded for connecting with other players, even if they don’t know them in “real” life, exposing children to a very real risk of contact with murderers, rapists and paedophiles. Untuk info penuh sila ke PR Fire UK Press release distribution How Facebook rewards kids for talking to strangers | PR Fire Hari ini saya nak tambah sikit... So a 4-year-old, thinking he's participating in an innocent browser-based Flash game, could click on a button and potentially open up his parents' computer to any number of cybercrime threats, from spyware to Trojans such as Zeus, capable of harvesting online banking credentials. The manipulated games could even force the PC to join a botnet, an automated network of malware-spreading systems. Yang ini adalah dari Security News Daily 5 Oktober 2011... berita penuh di Scammers Attack Kids With Rigged Online Games | Computer Viruses & Malware | Online Games & Identity Theft | SecurityNewsDaily
